Prayers
Fr. Scott has decided, with the backing of the PCC, that as from Monday 13th July, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, morning prayers will be said in Holy Trinity Church at 8:30am.  As Fridays will be his “day of rest”, the leading of prayers on that day will be shared  among the Lay Readers and other members of the congregation. The ringing  of our church bells will alert those passing that  prayers are being said for our parish, town and country.  The short service will be open to all; but if you are unable to attend in person, you can at least be assured that you are being prayed for.

Churches Together
During the two weeks 14th - 28th September 2008, Churches Together in Bishop's Stortford are organising a community festival entitled Shine.

Some time ago the ministers of our local churches meeting at one of their annual retreats were discusing the place of the Church in our community. They made the observation that whilst the Church is at the heart of the local community, we are not always perceived in that way. We know the importance of church life in our community and we believe that we are called to be salt and light in the world so we believe in having an influence on society. They decided that we needed to do some things to raised our profile and point people to what we are already doing; and we needed to do this in a form that is clearly seen to be giving something to the community.

Fr John
Fr John
At the APCM.last Sunday, Fr.John, the much loved Priest in Charge of Holy Trinity announced that he and his lovely wife Penny will be leaving to take up a new post in Cheshunt later this year. It would appear that the whole congregation went into shock and it is only now, two days later, that it is beginning to sink in. During his seven years with us, Fr.John has overseen the refurbishment of Holy Trinity with all the problems that has entailed. He has turned PCC meetings into an enjoyable experience instead of a chore, and brought fun and laughter into study and worship. He has always practiced what he preached and is greatly respected by us all. We have grown to love Penny, and so losing her, will make this a double tragedy. Penny is one of those remarkable people who seem able to set their hand to any task and effortlessly carry it out.

This move will, of course, be a huge challenge to Fr.John and Penny, but one that we have no doubt they will rise to with their usual enthusiasm and skill.

We would like them to know that they will take with them our love, thanks and prayers. They will be a very hard act to follow.
